About me

Hello, I’m Christopher Watson. I design AI systems that help people think, decide, and perform better—whether in mission-critical defense environments or in the classroom.

As a software engineer at MITRE and Ph.D. researcher at Howard University’s Human-Centered AI Institute, my work spans Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) centered Large Language Models (LLMs), human–AI trust and AI-enabled decision support. I’m equally committed to applying these innovations in education, where generative AI has the potential to reduce teacher workload and elevate instructional quality.

Before transitioning to engineering, I spent ten years as a high school educator, where I ignited students’ curiosity for coding and problem solving. That experience shaped my ability to break down complex concepts and foster a deep love of technology, which I now use in my current role. Outside of work, I’m passionate about mentoring aspiring technologists, exploring emerging technologies, and bridging the gap between education and industry.
